LARP Events in Bulgaria – Live Action Roleplay in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna
Bulgaria has an active live action role-play (LARP) scene with nearly twenty years of history. The community numbers in the hundreds, with the largest groups in Sofia and Plovdiv and active clubs in Varna, Burgas, and other regions. Bulgarian LARP events range from medieval fantasy epics to post-apocalyptic adventures, all of them narrative-driven in-person games (online play-by-post and pure historical reenactments are generally excluded). Some Bulgarian LARPs are bilingual or English-friendly, actively welcoming international participants. The Fog LARP

The Fog LARP is the largest fantasy LARP series in Bulgaria and the Balkans, held annually each summer since 2013. Around 300 players participate in an immersive medieval fantasy world, with international attendance (players from Bulgaria, neighboring countries, and even as far as Argentina). The game features meaningful choices and a persistent world storyline, making it a flagship live action roleplay in Bulgaria.

Chronicles of D'Azur (The Fog spin-off)

Chronicles of D'Azur is a smaller LARP series set in the same fantasy universe as The Fog. Launched as a spin-off in recent years, it focuses on social and political storylines rather than large battles. These games are held in winter with roughly 80 participants, offering a more intimate role-playing experience within the Fog's mythos. While primarily a Bulgarian-language event for local fans, it continues the narrative for enthusiasts of the Fog world.

STALKER LARP (България)

STALKER LARP is Bulgaria's premier post-apocalyptic LARP series, running annually since 2009. Inspired by the Strugatsky brothers' Roadside Picnic and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. video games, it has evolved its own storyline and game mechanics over a decade. Events typically draw a dedicated community of survivors for immersive horror-infused adventures in the mysterious "Zone." As the only large-scale post-apocalyptic LARP in the country, STALKER LARP offers a gritty contrast to the fantasy games.

Twisted Tales – A Journey Into the Old World

Description
Twisted Tales is a 5-day fantasy LARP festival that plunges players into a fairy-tale world of monsters, magic, and Slavic myth. The ongoing story (second edition in 2025) is set in "The Old World," where Baba Yaga rules a realm of fey creatures and folklore legends. Players become heroes or villains in a conflict involving figures like Scarlet (Red Riding Hood's daughter) and the dark god Chernobog.
International Focus
This event is designed for international participants – run in English and actively inviting overseas LARPers. It offers a unique blend of childhood tales and epic adventure in a Bulgarian mountain setting.
