Croatia's LARP scene features a mix of local Croatian-language games and a few that welcome English-speaking players. Most events take place around the capital Zagreb, though enthusiasts from other cities (like Split and Rijeka) often travel to participate. The community hosts everything from medieval fantasy battle campaigns to modern horror chronicles, all narrative-driven and held in-person (no play-by-post or reenactment-only events). Below is a listing of active LARP events in Croatia – including their location, languages, genres, descriptions, and links – optimized for search terms like LARP events in Croatia, live action roleplay Croatia, and LARP in Zagreb / Split / Rijeka.

Description:
Classic high-fantasy adventure scenarios with boffer combat, set in an original "Western Lands" campaign setting. New players are welcome to drop in with basic costume/weapon requirements.

Rajski Vrhovi
Location:Žumberak Mountains (near Zagreb)
Primary language: Croatian
Genre: Medieval Fantasy
Description:
A long-running annual fantasy LARP event set in the fictional "Rajski Vrhovi" realm. It evolved from Croatia's earliest boffer LARP tradition (using Amtgard-inspired rules) and has been held since the 1990s. Recent years have shifted toward more story-driven gameplay with intricate plotlines and less emphasis on combat. Rajski Vrhovi typically takes place on Žumberak Mountain each summer, drawing veterans from across the country.

"Para pokreće svijet" Steampunk LARP
Location:Zagreb / Žumberak
Primary language: Croatian
Genre: Steampunk (alternate-history 1900s)
Description:
Para pokreće svijet (translated "Steam Makes the World Go Round") is Croatia's only steampunk LARP series. It takes place in an Austro-Hungarian inspired setting where electricity was never discovered and steam technology reigns. Events are typically one-night adventures (often held at an eco-village in the Žumberak area) featuring light-hearted intrigue, Victorian-era costumes, gadgets, and the occasional experimental game mechanics (e.g. resolving battles via board games). About 2–3 events are run per year when active. After a brief hiatus, this game was revived and continues to grow in popularity.

Zagreb By Night – Vampire: The Masquerade
Location:Zagreb
Primary language:Bilingual (Croatian & English)
Genre: Modern Gothic Horror (Vampire)
Description:
An ongoing Vampire: The Masquerade LARP chronicle set in an alternate modern-day Zagreb. Running continuously since 2013, it uses the Mind's Eye Theatre rules (by By Night Studios) and is part of the international Vampire International Chronicle (VIC) network. Local games are held almost weekly, with about twelve major gatherings (Grand Elysium events) per year. The story centers on Camarilla vampire politics – expect nightly Elysium meetings, scheming between clans, and occasional city-wide plot arcs. Notably, Zagreb By Night actively welcomes international participants: its special events often draw players from across Europe, and games are conducted largely in English when foreigners attend. (For example, a Grand Elysium in Zagreb's automobile museum saw one-third of the 30 players coming from abroad, and the session ran almost entirely in English.)
